This is what Mercedes-Benz's cars might look like in 2040
The time is ripe for developing innovative and futuristic pieces of automobiles. This is because there's a pressing need for efficient, extravagant and extremely good-looking vehicles in the future. The same idea inspired a South Korean car designer Minwoong Im to envision this sick looking Mercedes-Benz concept vehicle which is christened the 2040 Streamliner.
The 2040 Streamliner is powered by a dual Jet propelled engine and gets an extremely low-slung, streamlined body design with a tight and cosy cabin. The design is somewhat similar to what the 'Jetsons' cartoon series had shown in the 20th century. This retrofuturistic Mercedes-Benz might bring about a new wave of designs from several other car designers.
The 2040 Streamliner has been inspired directly from the 1955 Mercedes-Benz W196R which in turn derived its design from the fighter planes of WWII. The W196R had a cabin which was tightly knit just like the fighter planes it was based upon.
The designer Minwoong Im is based in Seoul and has created several other mind boggling concept cars in the past as well. These include the Infiniti Boa concept, Infiniti Q50 next generation and several unnamed designs based on cars from KIA motors.
For the future, the focus seems to be on autonomous cars, flying solar powered cars, fully electric cars while the hybrid cars are gradually gaining popularity amongst the masses these days. The year 2016 witnessed a large number of concept cars being showcased by an entirety of the large automobile manufacturers which showed that cars in the future will look 'Wow' without compromising on their performance and comfort factor, however, reliability remains to be tested for now.
